About
Field Trip

A new company run by someone who has been getting people to the right seat since 2000. Here is the track record, and how we work.

Who we are

Field Trip is an independent South African sports travel company, based in Johannesburg. We build trips to the fixtures South Africans actually want to be at — the Springboks away from home, European football weekends, Wimbledon — and hotel packages for international cricket played here. Everything is priced in Rand, for people flying out of Johannesburg and Cape Town.

The company is new. FIELDTRIP (Pty) Ltd was registered in March 2026, and we would rather say that than imply otherwise. What is not new is the person running it.

Twenty-five years of getting people to the right seat

Our founder has worked in premium event hospitality since 2000, and in sports travel specifically since 2018. That has meant a few different things over the years: building a film and corporate catering business that grew to thirteen operating teams and, at its peak, put out seventy thousand meals a day for roadshows, long-term industrial contracts and state occasions. Then an experiential travel company running expert-led trips with professional cyclists, photographers, chefs and former internationals, sold through the premium rewards programmes of three of South Africa's major banks.

Then sports travel proper. Managing director for the South African, Singaporean and Australian divisions of a UK sports travel group turning over around eighteen million pounds — three divisions built from nothing, and the highest revenue of the group's territories. During the 2023 Rugby World Cup that meant running hospitality operations for four and a half thousand clients on a cruise-based programme, from the pool stages through to the quarter-finals. The year before, the British and Irish Lions tour: over twelve thousand tickets placed.

Most recently, appointed sub-agent to an official Olympic hospitality provider for the Chinese market, and founder of Triplocker, the premium ticketing brand Field Trip sits alongside.

Why that matters to you

Sports travel has a low barrier to entry and a high failure rate, and the failures are expensive because the money goes out before the trip happens. The things that go wrong are rarely exotic: an allocation that was never actually secured, a hotel booked on a non-refundable rate the client was not told about, a kick-off that moves and nobody has a plan.

The work above is what a plan looks like. Four and a half thousand people at a World Cup is not a bigger version of one person at a Test — it is a different discipline, and it is the one we run this on.

How we work

Independent, and we say so

Field Trip is not an official agent of any tournament, league, club or union, and we do not pretend to be. We buy through licensed trade suppliers and debenture holders, and we tell you where a ticket comes from and how it will reach you. Where an organiser restricts resale, packaging or away-fan allocation, that restriction is on the fixture page before you book.

Corporate and groups

A large part of what we do is not families of four. It is companies taking clients — a table of eight at the Wanderers over the England series, forty people to Paris for a Test weekend, a suite for a season. Group logistics, rooming lists, transfers and a single billing account are the normal request, not the exception.
